To get to this adventure playground, automobiles are the most common method. But with the fact that BC Ferries now take reservations, we consider the ferry just an extension of the highway.  With a ferry reservation and an "on time" crew, Bamfield is only 41/2 hours from Vancouver.  Float planes fly into the area from various points through out to make the trip around an hour long.  The road from Port Alberni to Bamfield is unpaved but well maintained and fairly well travelled.  Giant logging trucks frequent this road during the day so keep a close watch for them.  Its easier for you to move out of the way than them.
